class=\"elementor-testimonial-content\"><p class=\"cjk\"><font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\">Traditional\nChinese Medicine (TCM) has experienced extreme impact from modern\nwestern medicine (WM) in the past 100 years and significant research\nprojects have been carried out in the past few decades. The objective\nis to rationalize the clinical effectiveness and theoretical\nsoundness and consistency, through the viewpoints and techniques of\nmodern western medicine such as laboratory testing, double-blind\nexperiments, animal experiments, evident-based medicine etc. The\npositive results have enabled TCM to barely survive in modern\nsociety. However, the academic succession of the essence of the\noriginal theory, and the subtle experience of aging TCM\npractitioners, are in danger of decline. Tremendous resources have\nbeen deployed into developing a new trend of TCM, but they are mainly\nin the areas of TCM university training for the acquisition of modern\neducation methods, including compliance standard and tools, TCM\nstudents acquiring WM knowledge and research methods, TCM hospitals\nacquiring new WM diagnosis machines and surgical equipment,\noperational structure and functions of modern WM hospitals, and TCM\npractitioners acquiring new WM practice and surgical skills. However,\nresources deployed into the development of the essence of TCM theory\nhave been extremely small in comparison. The difficulties of\ndevelopment lies not only in the lack of funding and human resources,\nbut also in the incompatibility of the theories between TCM and WM.\nIn ancient times, the theories of TCM were trans-disciplinary, that\nis, all the ancient fields of science such as philosophy, economics,\nsocial science, religion, engineering etc were all based on similar\ntheories. However the replacement by modern western science in China\nhas led to a separation of all these ancient fields of science from\none and another, and TCM is one of the few traditional fields that\nstill retains the essence of traditional theories in their daily\neffective practice. <\/font>\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"cjk\"><font face=\"Times New Roman, serif\">The attention of\nTCM practitioners has been drawn to Systems Sciences due to the\nlatter\u2019s multi-disciplinary and trans-disciplinary properties. My\nown information technology engineering background and clinical\nexperience in the healing of my sinusitis and skin allergy, guided me\ninto the study and clinical practice of TCM. Researching TCM from the\nmodern Engineering perspective helped my understanding of TCM in a\nmodern scientific way. However it was not until my fortunate\nencounter in 2007 with experts in the International Society for\nSystems Sciences, and thanks to their enlightenment, that my TCM\nresearch has leapt into a new stage. The past few decades of research\nof TCM has been diverging into different fields reductionistically\nbut the research of modern science has been emerging into similar\nfields systemically.
